Almost 100 Jobs Announced For Cork City

Up to 100 jobs are to be announced for Cork City by a US online games company.

The company, Big Fish Games, is expected to announce the move with the aid of IDA Ireland.

The company, which provides free online gaming on the internet, plans to open its European headquarters at Mahon, Cork.

Big Fish Games is based in Seattle, Washington, and employs around 350 people developing and publishing 'casual' games for computers and mobile devices, such as logic and adventure teasers for download.

The jobs will be created over the next three years.

Recruitment for jobs in customer support and games testing is understood to have already begun.

Gaming Company Expansion To Create Jobs
An online Japanese gaming company has announced plans to expand its European database in Dublin. GALA has been based in the Irish capital since 2006, and says the expansion is a result of both the expansion of the online games market in Europe and the success of its Irish operation. The move will create 103 jobs in the city.

200 new jobs are expected to be announced for Cork, as global IT firm EMC finalise negotiations with the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation. The company hopes to open new offices in Cork city, where it has been established since it opened a manufacturing plant in 1988.
