Cash-Kidnap Four Freed By Police

Four people have been rescued today after the latest of a long-running series of so-called 'Tiger kidnapping' incidents.

The three women and one man were released from their ordeal by police in Belfast at approximately 9.15am, today, Tuesday.

They had been held hostage in west Belfast while another man was forced to hand over money to a gang.

All were held overnight in Glen parade as a man was forced to go to his work in south Belfast and get cash.

He was told to leave the money at a location in greater Belfast.

"When police were made aware of the kidnap, a full-scale operation was mounted to safely recover the hostages," said a police spokesman.

He added that the four people in the house and the man who was forced to collect the money were safe and unhurt.

"Investigations into the incident are continuing," he said.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information about activity in Glen Parade around 1am to contact them.

Meanwhile, there's been a bank robbery in south Belfast.

A man walked into the bank on Lisburn Road at about 10.15am on Tuesday and threatened a cashier with a gun before demanding money. He then made off with an undisclosed sum of cash in the direction of Donnybrook Street.

Police have also appealed for anyone with information concerning this incident to contact them.
