Death Of Blaze Victim 'Sad', Says MLA
The woman found on fire in a Belfast street last week has died.
Fifty-four-year-old Leslie Cheryl Bremner, from the Tower Street area in the east of the city, suffered fatal severe burns in the early hours of last Friday morning.
She had been found lying in the Lower Newtownards Road area.
She was taken to hospital but died from her injuries on Wednesday.
East Belfast DUP MLA Robin Newton (pictured) said he knew Mrs Bremner through his constituency work.
He said she had visited him in his office on a few occasions before her tragic death.
"She was originally from the Finaghy area," said Mr Newton, who is also a local Belfast councillor.
Describing what had happened as a "very sad case", he added: "Obviously I would extend my sympathy to her family and to any relatives she has."
The police have said they have been trying to establish ever since what exactly happened to her. However, they have said no crime is suspected.
A police effort is still being made to trace immediate family or indeed any family members or friends of the dead woman.
