Irish Electrician's Ready For Strike

The Irish Republic's Labour Relations Commission is meeting electrical contractors and union representatives in an effort to avert planned strike action.

Members of the TEEU, which represents about 10,500 electricians, are threatening the all-out strike from Monday.

The union claims its members have not received a pay rise in three years and that employers are in breach of pay agreements.

TEEU spokesman Eamon Devoy is not confident about the chances of resolving the dispute.

"I wouldn't be terribly optimistic about the Labour Relations Commission's involvement," he said.

"They're not terribly optimistic themselves in resolving this dispute."
