Derry Clue To Sligo Body's Identification
A strong link to Northern Ireland has emerged in an ongoing gardaí investigation to identify the body of a man found in the Irish Republic last month.
Officers in Sligo are renewing their appeal for public assistance in identifying the body, which was found at Rosses Point on 16th June this year.
Gardaí have revealed their enquiries now suggest the man was at the Ulsterbus terminal in Derry City at 2.30pm on 12th June, where he boarded a bus for Sligo at 4pm that same day.
The man is described as 55 to 65 yrs, with short grey hair, dark eyebrows and is of average height, thin build and his body was found wearing swimming trunks.
In the nearby area a black leather jacket, navy chino style trousers, black belt, black sleeveless Tommy Hilfiger jumper, blue woollen sock, and black shoes were discovered.
A spokesman for the Irish Republic's police said: "To date this male remains unidentified.
"Detective Inspector John O'Reilly of Sligo Garda Station is now making a renewed appeal in an effort to identify this man and notify his next of kin."
Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room in Sligo Garda Station on 071 - 9157070 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

Co Fermanagh Man Dies In Sligo Rally Crash
Two drivers have died in a crash in a County Sligo rally. Daire Maguire from County Fermanagh and Gene McDonald were killed when the car they were racing in hit a wall in Ballymote at around 3pm on Sunday, 16 July. The incident happened during the sixth stage of the Sligo Stages Rally. No other car was involved.

Belfast Man Dies In Co Sligo Crash
A man from Belfast has died in a car crash in County Sligo. The 69-year-old man was killed after the car he was driving hit a ditch in Castlegal, Cliffoney, at around 3pm on Monday. The man's car was the only vehicle involved in the crash. The body has been removed to Sligo University Hospital where a post mortem will take place.

A body exhumed from a grave in Sligo has been found to not be that of missing Tyrone teenager, Arlene Arkinson. In a report by the BBC, Kathleen Arkinson, said: "My hope in finding the remains of my sister, Arlene, have been dashed again. "I prayed it was Arlene and was devastated when I was told it wasn't. "We seem to suffer blow after blow.

Body of woman found on beach
Police in Kilkeel are appealing for help in trying to identify the body of a woman who was found on a beach in the town at the weekend. A member of the public alerted officers to the scene just after 10am on Sunday. The woman is believed to be in her sixties and is described as being around 5’ 3” in height with grey hair.
