Charges Over Tollymore Stabbing
Two people appeared before magistrates today, charged with the attempted murder of a man in Tollymore Forest Park.
Elizabeth Marks, 24, from Lurgan in Co Armagh, and her partner David Higginson, 31, were both accused of attempting to kill James Kane.
The 42-year-old victim was stabbed following an altercation at the popular Co Down tourist spot on Saturday night, (pictured) the court was told.
Police said they had received an emergency call at around 11.30pm.
The court heard that when Ms Marks was taken into custody, she said: "I did it, I stuck the knife in him."
A detective also told the court that while Ms Marks was being detained she said of the wounded man "I hope he dies".
Ms Marks's solicitor said they would be making the case that his client did not have a knife and did not stab the Mr Kane.
The lawyer said the fight at the campsite had been triggered by a cocktail of prescription medication and alcohol.
The judge sitting at Downpatrick Court refused her bail application, on the grounds she might interfere with witnesses or seek to further injure Mr Kane, who remains in hospital in a stable condition.
