County Antrim man critically ill after assault

A 32-year old man is critically ill with severe head injuries after being assaulted in County Antrim.

He was found at Orkney Drive in the Ballykeel area of Ballymena in the early hours of Friday morning. Police are treating the attack as attempted murder.

In a separate incident, a man is being treated in Altnagelvin hospital after being found in an alleyway with serious head injuries at a block of flats in Londonderry.

The 36-year-old was discovered by firefighters called to a blaze in Great James Street, in Derry city centre, shortly after 4.30am on Friday. The police say they believe the victim was assaulted.

A man has been arrested in connection with the incident. (AMcE)

Men Sentenced For Ballymena Drug And Money Laundering Operation
Three men were sentenced for offences linked to a drugs and money laundering operation in the Ballymena area yesterday, 31 January. At Antrim Crown Court, Troy Carley (27), Neil Lowry (30) and Marc Mitchell (32) were sentenced for a number of offences.

Co Antrim Man Found Dead In Ibiza Sustained Head Injuries
A County Antrim man found dead in a hotel room in Ibiza sustained head injuries, according to Ireland's expert State Pathologist. Alan Drennan, 21, was found dead just 24 hours after arriving in Ibiza. Mr Drennan was detained by Spanish police when he arrived on the holiday island, and friends claim that he was attacked by the police.
