Killings Blight Northern England
At least five people have been shot dead in Cumbria after a taxi driver went on the rampage before shooting himself.
Meanwhile, 160 miles away - in Derbyshire - a multiple murder investigation has also started after three people, including a child, were killed.
Police found the bodies of a 44-year-old man and 38-year-old women in Holbrook while a 23-month-old baby who was flown to Royal Derby Hospital by Air Ambulance (pictured) also later died.
The village has been cordoned off but officers said a gun had not been used.
Officers were initially called to a house in Holbrook, near Belper, Derbyshire, after a neighbour expressed concern.
A spokesman for Derbyshire Constabulary said: "Police were called to a house in Well Yard, Holbrook, today by a neighbour."
It has been a bloody day for England, with at least five people also killed and another 25 injured after a gunman opened fire in west Cumbria.
A body, thought to be that of the suspected killer - taxi driver Derrick Bird - has since been found in the Boot area of the nearby Lake District.
The first fatality was in Whitehaven before the gunman drove south apparently shooting people at random.
The news was confirmed at the start of Prime Minister's Questions when David Cameron said at least five people had been killed.
"The Government will do everything it possibly can to help the local community and those affected and to keep the House informed," Mr Cameron said, adding that a full statement would be made to MPs on Thursday.
