Tragic Derbyshire Trio 'Stabbed'
As people in Cumbria struggled to come to terms with yesterday's multiple murders, it has today been revealed that the three people - including a mother and child - who died in a separate incident in Derbyshire, all suffered stab wounds.
Police officers and the emergency services had rushed to a house in Well Yard, off Town Street, Holbrook, near Belper, on Wednesday, but were too late.
The 38-year-old woman and her 23-month-old son, along with a 44-year-old man all died from stab injuries, although a post mortem examination will be conducted later by a Home Office pathologist to determine the exact cause of their deaths.
The bodies of the two adults were found at the house while the boy was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Derby Hospital where he later died.
Officers said they were called to the house by a concerned neighbour.
Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
