Thomas Devlin Murder Suspect Charged

The long-running probe into the fatal stabbing of schoolboy Thomas Devlin in north Belfast almost four years ago has seen a man being charged with murder.

Gary Ryan Taylor, 22, from Mountcollyer Avenue, Belfast, was also charged with the attempted murder of Jonathan McKee on the same date (10 August 2005) and with wounding him with intent to cause grevious bodily harm.

The accused remains in custody and will appear again in court on Friday to fix a date for a bail application.

Innocent teenager Thomas Devlin, 15, (pictured) died in the knife attack as he returned home from buying sweets.

His parents were in Belfast Magistrates Court today to hear a detective sergeant say he could connect the accused with the killing.

Another accused, Nigel James Brown, 25, whose address was given as Maghaberry Prison, was to be sentenced last Friday for an offence "connected with the fatal knife attack".

But a prosecution lawyer asked instead for an adjournment, saying it was "anticipated that the accused will be charged" with the killing.
