Pupils Compete To Raze Tower Blocks

A poster competition is being drawn up to pick a primary school pupil to 'push the button' to demolish the three multi-storey blocks in south Edinburgh next month. The blocks in Gracemount - Gala, Soutra and Fala Courts - are due to be demolished on Sunday October 25th. Three local schools - Gracemount, St Catherine's and Kaimes - are taking part in the competition which is based around 'safety'. The schools are being given a presentation by staff from the Project Team and contractors Coleman & Company about safety issues around the site. A judging panel will then choose the winning poster and the child will get the chance of a lifetime to push the demolition button.
