OAP Charged After Knife Attack

An 85-year-old man has been charged after an elderly woman was stabbed in Edinburgh yesterday.

Bendicta McLean, 74, was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with a chest wound, after the incident happened in Clermiston Road, Corstorphine, at around 1pm.

Lothian and Borders Police have said she is in a stable condition in hospital.

Officers sealed off the street at Old Kirk Road and Corstorphine Hill while they carried out a full investigation.

The pair are believed to have been neighbours.

Businessman Fined Over Damage To Ancient Woods
Natural England has won its case against a businessman in Cumbria who was found to have caused damage to an ancient woodland on his land. Philip Day was order to pay a fine of £450,000 and court fees of £475,000 in connection with the felling of trees and the excavation of land in order to build an access track in Gelt Woods.

Ryanair Postpones Opening Of Edinburgh Base
Low-fares airline Ryanair has been forced to postpone the opening of its new Edinburgh base for six weeks, due to strike action at airplane manufacturer Boeing. Ryanair said that the strike had resulted in Boeing being unable to deliver two 737 planes which the airline had purchased to operate on its new Edinburgh routes.

Two Men Charged Following Series Of Thefts And Assaults In Edinburgh
Two men have been arrested and charged following four thefts and two assaults in Edinburgh. Officers were called at around 8pm on 07 October following a report that two men with a hammer were attempting to break into vehicles in Allanfield. An 18-year-old man was apprehended at the scene, while another 21-year-old man was later traced and arrested.

Two Woman Charged Over Edinburgh Body Find
Two woman have been charged in connection with the discovery of a body in Edinburgh last month. Police discovered the body of Alexander Duncan on 19 April at a house on Primrose Street. Two women, aged 29 and 31, have now been charged with murder and are due to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court later today.

Irishman Charged With Murder Of His Mother In Edinburgh
A 39-year-old Irishman has been charged with the murder of his 66-year-old mother, whose body it took police a month to identify. The body of Phyllis Dunleavy, from Dublin, was found in a shallow grave by a cyclist on Corstorphine Hill, Edinburgh, on June 06.
