London Robbers Sentenced
Two men were this week sentenced to a total of nine years imprisonment at Harrow Crown Court for their part in a series of armed robberies in northwest London.
Ashton Cato-Bell, 19, of Lilburn Walk, Harlesden received six years imprisonment. He had previously pleaded guilty on 28 August to nine counts of robbery and nine counts of possession of a firearm with intent to commit robbery.
Tyrone Mundle, 20, of Russell Road, Northolt received three years imprisonment.
He had previously pleaded guilty on 23 September to one count of robbery and one count of possession of a firearm with intent to commit robbery.
DI Llewellyn from the Flying Squad said: "This excellent result shows that we are determined and committed in identifying and bringing to justice offenders who commit these types of crime.
"These robberies continue to be an MPS and Flying Squad priority; they cause considerable loss to bookmakers and can be frightening for those that work there."
Following a series of armed robberies on bookmakers in the Wembley, Sudbury and Harlesden area's the Finchley Flying Squad mounted a proactive operation to catch the offenders. After extensive investigation Ashton Cato-Bell was identified as a suspect and placed under surveillance by officers.
On 25 June, Cato-Bell was being observed by officers when he and a second man, Tyrone Mundle, drove to Church Lane, Kingsbury.
They parked the car and Cato-Bell entered the William Hill Bookmakers, he produced a firearm and demanded a quantity of cash from the staff. He left the shop with the money and made his way back to Mundle who was waiting in the car.
On his approach to the car Flying Squad officers moved in to arrest him. Cato-Bell ran off and after a short chase was arrested, in possession of an imitation firearm and money, by armed officers.
Mundle was arrested still in his vehicle.
Both men were charged with the offences of the 25 of June and remanded in custody. They were later charged with further offences and pleaded guilty as above.
Mundle also asked that a matter of criminal damage on the 10 June at William Hill, High Road, Willesden be taken into consideration.

Multiple Robber Jailed
A criminal who evaded police after committing a series of armed robberies has been jailed for nine years. Grant Findlay, aged 23, of Marvels Lane, Bromley, was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on Tuesday November 17, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to rob between April 1 and May 17 2008 and possession of an imitation firearm with intent.

Six Convicted Over 'SAS-Style' Robberies
Six men have been convicted at court for committing a string of 'SAS-style' robberies across London and three counties. The gang, who dressed in black uniforms complete with balaclavas, would arm themselves with machetes, firearms and Tasers to raid building societies and commercial businesses in East London, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk.

Suspended sentence for shoe fetishist
A man with a footwear fetish who robbed women of their shoes has been given a suspended sentence. Omar Abd-el-Gowd, 26, of Honor Oak Park, south east London, had pleaded guilty to eight robberies between December 2005 and November 2006. He was sentenced to 12 months, suspended for two years.

Police Appeal For Information Following Three Street Robberies
Northumbria Police are appealing for information following three robberies in the Gateshead area on Sunday and Monday. Police said that an elderly woman was knocked to the ground on Ely Street when a man grabbed her shopping bag at about 10:10 on Monday morning. The woman is being treated in hospital.
