Armed Manchester Teen Cautioned

A 14-year-old boy has been cautioned after being caught with a replica gun in Ordsall.

The boy was found with the gun after a member of the public called the police at about 11.35am on Saturday 17 October 2009.

Officers found the boy on Bolton Road acting suspiciously and after following him for a short distance arrested him.

He has been cautioned for a public order and firearms offence, after being found with a ball-bearing gun.

Inspector Nadeem Mir said: "While the boy was carrying a replica firearm, the members of the public who saw him were not to know that.

"He caused fear in the community, and for that he needed to be dealt with.

"Anyone caught with an imitation firearm faces criminal action, as this is part of Greater Manchester Police's commitment to ensuring our streets are safe and gun-free."
