Reward Offered As Sex Attacker Sought
Police investigating a serious sexual assault in Mitcham during the summer have announced a reward of £10,000 for any information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect.
He is described as a white man aged between 19 and 31 years old, of large build with light coloured hair. He spoke with an accent, possibly Eastern European.
The assault happened around 9pm on Sunday 23 August.
The victim was in Grove Road, Mitcham when she was approached by a man. The man began talking to her but then later dragged her in to some nearby bushes where she was assaulted.
The victim was shocked and upset and sustained extensive bruising and cuts to her body.
The incident is being investigated by the Sapphire team based at Wimbledon.
DC Claire Hastings said: "This was a particularly brutal and unprovoked attack on a woman who has been left both shocked and upset. It is vital we find the suspect as soon as possible.
"We would also like to reassure residents that we are doing everything in our power to find this man.
"I would urge anyone with any information, however trivial they think it might be, to come forward and speak to the police or in confidence to Crimestoppers."

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.
