Rapist Flees Embassy

The escape of a rapist being processed for deportation at the Pakistan High Commission has caused a diplomatic row. Officials there have lodged a formal complaint that UK officials failed to alert staff that he was dangerous. Police have been hunting for Imtiaz Hussain, 44, since he climbed out of a toilet window at the London embassy and escaped last Friday. The UK Border Agency said it never commented on operational issues but the police were told immediately.

Booze Sold 'Too Young'

Two thirds of shops targeted in an undercover 'sting' operation sold alcohol to underage youngsters, police have said. Officers from Dyfed-Powys Police worked with teenagers aged 15 to find out how many shops would sell them alcohol. The experiment in some parts of Carmarthenshire saw six of the nine shops tested serving children without asking for any form of identification.

London Killed Probed

Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Abbeywood. Police were called at about 9.30pm Friday 30 October to reports of a man stabbed in Tavy Bridge, London and on arrival police discovered a 22 year-old man suffering from stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at just after 10pm and he has been formally identified as Moses Nteyoho, 22, of SE2. A post mortem examination held at the Princes Royal Hospital, Farnborough, gave cause of death as haemorrhaging from a stab wound to the heart.

Robber Jailed

A man has been jailed for 15 months at Wood Green Crown Court after being convicted of attempted robbery on a 16 year-old boy. Philip Palmer, 23, of Kings Road N22, pleaded guilty at Wood Green Crown Court on 28 September to one count of attempted robbery.

WWII Mortar Trigger Security Alert At London Police Station
Explosives specialists were called to a south-west London police station on Monday afternoon after a man handed in a World War Two mortar bomb as part of a gun amnesty. Police said that an 80-year-old man handed the 1940s device into Sutton station shortly before 13:30 on Monday.

Arrests Follow Edmonton Murder
Police investigating the murder of 15-year old Negus McLean in Edmonton have today made a further two arrests. A 14-year old boy, and a 16-year old boy, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody. Police were called at 7.25pm on Sunday 10 April to reports of a stabbing in Westminster Road, north London.

East London Murder Appeal
Detectives have appealed for information about the murder of a woman in Manor Park. Aliza Ahmed Mirza, 18, a student from Ilford, died on Saturday 3 April. Police had been called to reports of a collapsed female. It is believed she was stabbed while in the Forest View Road area. Miss Mirza was taken to hospital but later pronounced dead.

Father Appeals Over Paralysed Son's Shooting
The father of a teenager paralysed in a shooting incident has joined investigating officers to urge witnesses to come forward. Speaking from his son's hospital bedside Paul Smith said he knew people had information about those who shot and injured Raphael Smith, but couldn't understand why they had not spoken to police.

Police Hunt Following Teen Murder
Police are appealing for information following a murder in Southwark. Teenager Lyle Tulloch, from Peckham was stabbed at Newall House in Harper Road on Saturday. Lyle, 15, was confirmed dead at the scene despite efforts from emergency services. A post mortem gave the cause of death as stab wounds and haemorrhaging.
