Welsh Ministers Seek More Powers
Wales' First and Deputy First Minister have called for a referendum on increased devolution from Westminster.
A motion on a referendum will be debated by Welsh Assembly members next week.
First Minister Carwyn Jones said the vote would fall under the Government of Wales Act.
Should it gain the support of at least 40 AMs next week, Mr Jones said a formal request for more local powers will be made to the Welsh Secretary of State.
"We will be asking for a referendum on whether laws which affect the people of Wales - the laws under which our government works - should be made in Wales," he said.
"We could do even more if all new laws on subjects which are already our responsibility as a government could be made here in Wales.
"Issues about the timing of the referendum will be addressed after the general election, but In the meantime there is much technical groundwork to be done and next week's resolution will signal the start of preparations for our referendum," added the First Minister.
Ieuan Wyn Jones, Wales' Deputy First Minister, said the Assembly has earned its "place at the heart of the day to day lives of Welsh citizens".
"It is only right therefore that the Assembly is given the tools to do the job not only properly but more efficiently – creating Welsh laws, in Wales, tailor-made for the priorities of our communities and the people of this country," he said.
"It is about moving Wales forward not holding Wales back. It’s about bringing decision making closer to the people."

Carwyn Jones has been elected leader of the Labour Party in Wales. He will be sworn in as the Welsh Assembly's First Minister within weeks. Mr Jones (pictured) fended off contenders Health Minister Edwina Hart and Assembly backbencher Huw Lewis in the first round of votes.

Chancellor Supports M4 Road Improvements
Chancellor George Osborne has said the proposed M4 relief road in South Wales is one of the most important road schemes in the UK. However he added that the idea of motorists paying a toll to drive on the motorway did not come from the UK Government. The Welsh Government has dismissed the idea of imposing a toll.

North Wales Gets Flood Relief Works
A £6.4m flood defence scheme to protect parts of north Wales has been given the green light. The Welsh Assembly has pledged £3.8m towards the project in Tywyn, Gwynedd, which will start later this month.
