Policeman 'Struck' By Duke's Car

Scotland Yard is investigation allegations the Duke of York hit a uniformed police officer with his car.

Prince Andrew was believed to be driving into Buckingham Palace when the incident took place.

The police man was reportedly moving tourists away from the gates when he was stuck by the Duke's 4x4 vehicle.

The officer is said to have hurt his arm in the incident and made a complaint to his superiors.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard confirmed the matter is being investigated.

"A uniformed officer was involved in a collision with a vehicle whilst on duty on Constitution Hill and sustained minor injuries to his arm," said the police spokesman.

"The circumstances of the collision are now being examined."

Buckingham Place said the alleged incident was a "health and safety matter".

Senior Royals often drive themselves. In 2002 the Duke of York was caught speeding near Heathrow Airport.

He is well known for his love of classic cars, as is his brother the Prince of Wales.
