Adults 'Fuelling' Underage Drink

Police in Stockport have warned adults not to fuel anti-social behaviour.

One adult was caught on CCTV buying alcohol and handing it to young people outside an off-licence, Greater Manchester Police said.

Officers are now using the CCTV images to trace him. He will then be given an £80 fixed penalty notice.

Police Constable Richard O’Brien, from the Stockport West Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "Residents tell us that anti-social behaviour is their main priority and it is something we are working to tackle. It is illegal to buy alcohol for those underage and I would urge adults to ignore young people who may try to persuade them to buy drink on their behalf.

"Alcohol contributes to a great deal of anti-social behaviour in the area and adults who buy it for young people are only adding to the problem."
