Glastonbury Heats Up For 2010
As the Glastonbury music festival celebrates its 40th anniversary, the Met Office has been looking back at the last few years to see how the Somerset event has faired with the weather - and has predicted a warm reception for revellers this year.
The official weather forecasters said that 2007 saw the last 'year of mud and rain', with rain falling on every day of the festival.
Since then the event has seen mainly dry conditions. Fine weather dominated in 2008, and while 2009 saw a heavy shower on the Thursday night, the rest of the festival was fine and dry.
Met Office forecasts were accurate on all four days of the festival in 2007 and 2008. Last year's forecasts gave accurate predictions on three of the four days, as the festival missed scattered thunderstorms on the Friday afternoon.
This year, weather prospects for Glastonbury are shaping up to be very warm with some sunshine and largely dry conditions. Temperatures could reach highs of up to 27 Celsius with only the small chance of any rain.
A spokesperson said: "All the very latest weather information for Glastonbury is available from our new online events calendar.
"As well as the specialised events page we will be providing daily forecasts on YouTube for the duration of the festival.
"Festival fans can also get the latest weather forecast for the festival on their mobile or by downloading our free iphone app."

Women Motorists 'More Prepared' For Bad Weather
Women drivers are more likely to get caught out by severe weather, according to new research published by the Highways Agency. A survey of nearly 1,300 road users showed that women were less likely than men to make a journey by car after hearing a severe weather warning. Only 44% of women said that they would continue, compared with 62% of men.

Met office forecasters are warning of the potential for heavy snow across parts of the UK this weekend. Snow is forecast to spread from the west across Wales, and south west England overnight into Saturday morning, before pushing east across other parts of England through the day.

Roads Minister Urges Drives To 'Take Time'
The Highways Agency, which is responsible for England’s motorways and other strategic roads, is urging road users to make time for winter and prepare for severe weather. The agency said it had a fleet of 500 "state of the art" winter vehicles on stand-by, supported by tried and tested winter resilience plans.

'Windy, Wintry' Weather Expected For UK
In a marked change to the quiet and frosty weather of the winter so far, Met Office forecasters are expecting a mix of windy, wintry weather this weekend and next week. Atlantic weather systems will bring gales to many parts with spells of heavy rain and a mix of hail, sleet and snow showers.
