Four More Arrests In Raoul Moat Investigation

Police investigating the shootings carried out by Raoul Moat have arrested four more people on suspicion of firearms offences.

A man and a woman were arrested in Blyth, while another man and a woman were arrested in Newcastle. All are being questioned on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Twenty people have now been arrested during the course of the investigation. Two - Qhuram Awan, 23, from Blyth in Northumberland and Karl Ness, 26, from Dudley in North Tyneside - have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and possession of a firearm with intent. Both have been remanded in custody until July 22 when they are due to appear before Newcastle Crown Court.

It has also emerged that Raoul Moat's family have requested a second post mortem to be carried out. The Coroner's office has not confirmed reports that this was due to take place on Wednesday.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is also investigating the use of high-powered Tasers in Moat's stand-off with police before his death.

Raoul Moat went on the run after shooting his former girlfriend Samantha Stobbart, 22, and killing her partner, Chris Brown, 29, in Birtley, Gateshead on July 3. The following day, he shot and wounded Pc David Rathband, 42. Moat died on July 10.

The Taser firm which supplied the weapon used during the Raoul Moat stand-off has had its licence revoked. An inquest into Raoul Moat's death has heard that the weapon employed was not licensed for distribution under the Firearms Act.

Raoul Moat 'Accomplices' Appear In Court
Two alleged accomplices of Raoul Moat have appeared at Newcastle Crown Court charged with conspiracy to murder. Karl Ness, 26, from Dudley, North Tyneside and Qhuram Awan, 23, from Blyth, Northumberland were also charged with possessing a firearm with intent.

PC Blinded By Raoul Moat Found Dead
The police officer left blind after being shot by Raoul Moat has been found dead at his home in Northumberland. Police found the body of David Rathband on Wednesday after reports of concern for his wellbeing.

Killer Gunman Has 'Hit List'
Fears are mounting that a newly released prisoner who has already killed one man and seriously injured his former girlfriend and a policeman may have a list of victims to shoot. It has also emerged that Northumbria Police was told by Durham Prison that murder suspect Raoul Moat had already threatened to kill people on his release.
