Baby Found Dead In East Ayrshire

An investigation has been launched following the discovery of the body of a five-month-old baby in a house in Kilmarnock. The child was discovered in a house in Fullerton Street shortly before 8:30pm on Friday. The death is being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem examination is due to take place.

Charges Over Aberdeenshire Death

A 30-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the suspicious death of a woman whose body was found in a property on Greens Road, Newmachar on Monday evening. Police are currently conducting house to house enquiries and searches in the area and have appealed for anyone with any information to contact them. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Four Jailed Over Car Thefts

A gang of burglars have been sentenced for stealing hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of high performance cars from victims' driveways. Craig Foskett, 26, from Northwood, Harrow was sentenced to four years, Lewis Nevard, 22 and Ben Lordan, 21, both from Pinner, Harrow, were both sentenced to three years and Danielle Costello, 21, from Hayes, Hillingdon, was sentenced to 52 weeks imprisonment, suspended for two years, with an electronic curfew from 7pm to 7am for six months and a supervision order for eighteen months. All had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to burgle. They were originally arrested in a series of dawn raids in November last year. The gang had targeted top of the range vehicles at residential addresses in north London, Hertfordshire and Thames Valley. Up to 30 cars, including BMWs, Mercedes, Audis and Jaguars, worth around £390,000 were stolen, after the car keys were seized during a house burglary. The vehicles were later sold on. Other property, including cash, jewellery, laptops and credit cards, were also stolen during the burglarys.

January House Prices Show Slight Increase
House prices in England and Wales increased by just 0.9% in January, according to the latest monthly figures from Land Registry. The increase takes the average house price to £186,045. However, the data shows a decline in annual house price changes, from 6.7% last month to 6.4% this month. London experienced annual price growth of 13.

House Prices Rise By 12% In June
UK annual house price inflation in June 2007 was 12.1%, up from 10.8% in May 2007. Annual house price inflation in London was 17.5% in June, up from 14.3% in May. The UK annual house price inflation rate for the 3 months to June was 11.3% and 15.1% in London. The UK house price inflation rate rose from 10.8% in May 2007 to 12.1% in June 2007.

House price inflation drops
Annual house price inflation dropped again in October, according to the latest figures from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. House price inflation was 2.2% in October, a fall from September’s figure of 3.3%. The ODPM reported that the average house price in the UK was £186,103 in October, compared with £186,755 in September.

UK house prices fall, report shows
UK house prices fell by 0.5% between January and February, figures from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) have shown. The drop in prices, which saw the average house price in the UK in February fall to £179,491 from £180,465 in January, is smaller than the 1% fall reported in the same period last year.

‘Inadequate’ child car seats criticised
Consumer watchdog Which? has warned that ten inferior child car seats, which it tested two years ago, are still on sale. Which? said that three of the products are manufactured by Mamas and Papas – the Navetta Carry Cot, the Elan and the Passaggio – while Britax manufactures three others – the Cruiser Plus, Ranger and Trio.
