Man Arrested Over Chaddesden Murders

Police have arrested a 47-year-old man in connection with the deaths of two men at a block of flats in Derby. The body of John Matthews, 66, was found in a flat in Waterford Drive last Sunday evening, while the body of the second man was found in a flat in the same block on Friday. Both deaths are being treated as suspicious, although police have said that it is not yet clear whether they are connected. Man Jailed Following Cash And Drugs Seizure

A man has been jailed in Manchester following the seizure of cash and drugs, worth thousands of pounds. James Morgan, 37, of Harington Road, Merseyside, pleaded guilty to possession of amphetamine with intent to supply and money laundering at Manchester Crown Court and was jailed for 21 months. Officers conducting an investigation into organised crime seized £18,000 in cash from Morgan under the Proceeds of Crime Act. Morgan's home was searched when he was arrested and 2.4kg of amphetamine, with an estimated street value of £25,000, was discovered, as well as a food mixer, which had traces of amphetamine, plastic bags, scales and more cash. A total of more than £19,000 was seized and a trial of issue determined that Morgan, who had claimed to have earned the money as a professional gambler, earned the money from drug dealing. A confiscation hearing into the money and assets seized is ongoing.

Serious Sexual Assault In Blackpool

Police in Blackpool have appealed for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted. The 21-year-old was walking home around 3am on Friday morning, when she was approached by a man on Adelaide Street West who ushered her into a doorway, where he sexually assaulted her. He then walked along the Promenade with here to the junction of Tyldesley Road, before running off. The attacker is described as a white man of medium height, aged between 20 and 25. He is said to have a local accent and light brown shaved hair and he was wearing a black top, black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers with a grey or white trim at the time of the incident.
