Camerons Celebrate Birth Of Baby Girl

Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha are celebrating the birth of their baby daughter, who arrived unexpectedly during the couple's summer holiday.

The couple were on holiday near Truro when the baby was born two weeks early on Tuesday.

Mrs Cameron and the 6lb 1oz girl, who was delivered by Caesarean section, are both said to be doing "very well" at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

The couple are currently considering names for their new addition and are reportedly considering a reference to the county where she was born.

Mr Cameron described the birth as "absolutely thrilling". He has said that he will be taking paternity leave.

Mr Cameron and his wife have two other children, Nancy Gwen, six, and Arthur Elwen, four. Their eldest son, Ivan, tragically died in February 2009, aged six. He had suffered from a rare combination of cerebral palsy and Ohtahara syndrome, a form of severe epilepsy, and required round-the-clock care.
