More Tests Due On Body Of MI6 Employee

Further tests are to be carried out on the body of an MI6 worker which was found in a central London flat this week.

The body of Gareth Williams, 30, from Anglesey, was found in a large sports bag in the bathroom of the top floor flat in Alderney Street in Pimlico, central London on Monday afternoon.

Police broke into the flat after Mr Williams' colleagues said that he had not been seen for ten days and attempts to locate him via his former landlady failed.

The cause of death is still undetermined, after the results of a post-mortem yesterday proved inconclusive. However, it is believed that he was not stabbed, as had been previously reported.

Police are treating the death as "suspicious and unexplained" and further tests, including toxicological analysis of blood, are due to be carried out.

It is understood that a mobile phone and several mobile phone SIM cards were also found laid out in the flat.

Mr Williams was working as a communications officer at the GCHQ "listening post" in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, but was on secondment to MI6.
