Paramedic Pleads Guilty To Nurse Murder

A former ambulance worker has pleaded guilty to the murder of his ex-girlfriend.

Johnathan Vass, 30, attacked Jane Clough, 26, as she walked to her car after her shift at Blackpool Victoria Hospital in July.

Despite her colleagues attempts to save her, the nurse died from multiple stab wounds.

Mr Vass, from Preston, had left his wife to set up home with his co-worker before being suspended and eventually dismissed from the hospital.

The couple had recently become parents and Miss Clough had just returned to work.

Before the murder, Mr Vass was accused of raping the mother-of-one and was to attend a trial at Burnley Crown Court. He had been released on bail.

Judge Anthony Russell QC said: "There is only one sentence the court can impose for a crime as horrific as this and that is a life sentence."
