Cricklewood Murder Witnesses Sought

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following the murder of a woman in Cricklewood.

Police were called at approximately 4.45am on Saturday 11 December to reports of a woman assaulted at an address in Whitefield Avenue, North West London.

Officers attended to find 34-year-old Jacqueline Barrett dead at the scene.

Her next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination took place the following day at Finchley mortuary and found full cause of death to be asphyxia and haemorrhaging, compression of the neck and blunt force trauma.

Detective Chief Inspector Jacqueline Sebire, of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, said: "Jacqueline Barrett was a mother-of-three who grew up in the Camden area and had made her home in Cricklewood.

"We are very keen to speak to anyone who knew Jacqueline and can assist in building up a picture of her life to assist our investigation."

The Barrett family said: "Jacqueline was a loving daughter and a devoted mother for her three children. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends."

So far a 23-year-old man has been charged in connection with this inquiry.

A second man, aged 18, was arrested in connection with the inquiry. He has been bailed to return to a north London police station at a later date pending further enquiries.
