7/7 Firefighter Jailed For Drug Smuggling

A firefighter praised for his work in the 7 July bombings in London has been jailed for 14 years for smuggling 110kg of cocaine into the UK.

Following a series of raids by police on properties in London, Surrey, Kent and Hertfordshire in 2008, Simon Ford, 41, was convicted for being part of a £80m drugs and money laundering operation.

He was one of 33 people convicted.

During the London bombings Ford helped rescue people trapped after a bomb ripped apart a bus in Tavistock Square.
