Body Found In Missing 70-Year-Old Woman Probe
The body of a woman has been found in a ditch about a mile from the home of missing Eileen Ayley.
Police launched an urgent appeal on Wednesday to find the 70-year-old who has alzheimers.
Eileen Ayley from The Marshes, Dengie, Southminster went for a local walk that evening but did not come home.
The body of a woman was found about a mile from her home on Thursday afternoon.
Eileen Ayley's immediate family have been informed but formal identification of the body has yet to take place.
Police mounted an extensive search with the helicopter, dog unit and marine unit joining many officers on foot searching buildings, fields and paths in the area.
A spokesperson said: "Officers' thoughts are with Mrs Ayley's husband and family at this time.
"Essex Police would like to thank the more than 40 members of the public who helped in the search for Mrs Ayley, last night and this morning."

Five Arrested After Body Found In North London
Five people have been arrested in connection with the discovery of a woman's body in Enfield, north London. Police responded to reports of an unresponsive female at a flat in Gainsborough House, Ayley Croft, shortly after 21:00 on Thursday, 17 September. Officers and London Ambulance Service found the body of a 25-year-old woman inside the flat.

Third Body Found In Arson Attack Mansion
A third body has been found in the burnt-out mansion of a millionaire businessman. Christopher Foster, 50, his wife Jill, 49, and their 15-year-old daughter Kirstie had not been seen since the arson attack last Tuesday at Osbaston House, a large country estate in Shropshire. West Mercia Police are treating the case as a murder inquiry.
