Two Arrested Over Murder In Bermondsey

Detectives have arrested two men in connection with the murder of Vitalijs Janovics in Bermondsey.

Both 18-year-old men were detained on suspicion of murder and are currently in custody at a south London police station.

Police and London Ambulance Service were called around 1.10am on Friday 22 July to reports of an injured man in Jamaica Road in south east London.

The man was taken by ambulance to Kings College Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

He was later identified as Vitalijs Janovics, 38, of Long Lane.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a single stab wound to the heart.

An incident room has opened at Sutton under DCI Amanda Hargreaves from the Homicide and Serious Crime Directorate.

At this early stage officers believe Mr Janovics was stabbed in and around the area of a bus stop on Jamaica Road near Bermondsey Underground station.

Body Recovered From Seaburn Beach In Sunderland
The body of a man has been recovered from the water at Seaburn Beach. Police were called to reports of a body spotted in the water just before 14:30 on Wednesday, 19 August. It is understood that paramedics attended to the man at the scene, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Investigation Launched After Death Of Woman Following Bus Fall
A woman has died in hospital after falling on a route E3 bus on Chiswick High Road, just after 13:30 on Tuesday, 18 August. The 77-year-old woman was taken to hospital by ambulance, where she was pronounced dead shortly before 17:00.

Missing Teenager Found 'Safe And Well'
West Yorkshire Police have reported that 15-year-old Umme Habiba Tahir has been found "safe and well". The teenager had been last seen on Tuesday, 18 August. Police report that she was found on Wednesday afternoon in the Woodside area of Bradford. Police thanked the public for their help.

Police Hunt Following Teen Murder
Police are appealing for information following a murder in Southwark. Teenager Lyle Tulloch, from Peckham was stabbed at Newall House in Harper Road on Saturday. Lyle, 15, was confirmed dead at the scene despite efforts from emergency services. A post mortem gave the cause of death as stab wounds and haemorrhaging.
