Seat Bucks Recession With Growing Fleet Sales

Recession-busting sales data for a car manufacturer has seen a fleet and business sales operation celebrating an outstanding success.

Spanish motor manufacturer Seat has doubled its September registrations as the brand closes in on its goal of becoming a 'fleet manufacturer of choice'.

With last month's sales now accounted for, and the official Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders' (SMMT) figures published, Seat has seen its share of the hard-fought fleet market soar to a record 2.5% and 3,830 sales.

"That's a remarkable 100.7% increase on September 2010 which was, itself, a very strong month for the ambitious Spanish carmaker," said a company statement this week.

The September sales surge underlines the success of the firm's drive to become a significant force in the UK fleet market.

The strategy to become a fleet manufacturer of choice was launched in late 2009, and the campaign continues to draw in fleet and business customers attracted by a compelling mix of style, quality and desirability.

Commenting on the especially strong September performance, Seat UK National Fleet Sales Manager Sally Livingstone-Dennis said: "These fabulous figures underline the success we are having out there in what is, and I think will remain, a very tough fleet market.

"The initiatives we have put in place over the past couple of years - investments in both people and systems - are now bearing fruit and I'm convinced that this successful performance will continue."

Last year Seat opened its flagship Fleet Business Centre, designed to work as an extension to the UK Fleet and Business field sales team and dealer network.

Offering phone and online support, the centre makes the fleet and business sales operation easily accessible and improves customers’ experience of dealing with the brand.

Sally Livingstone-Dennis added: "The economic climate, and outlook for business, may be mixed but that simply means fleet customers will be focusing more intently than ever on the best possible value.

"Seat is ideally placed to provide that," she concluded.
