Thousands Now Arrested After London Riots
Officers from the London police have now arrested more than 3,000 people in connection with the disorder across London in August.
A statement from the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) said today that, three months on, a total of 3003 people have been arrested of which 1931 have resulted in charges or cautions.
As officers from Operation Withern, the investigation into the crimes during disorder, continue to arrest people every day cases are going through the courts and offenders are being convicted.
As part of the probe, today, the MPS has released a further 71 pictures of those jailed for crimes during the disorder that took place in August, with sentences totalling 100 years.
They show the latest people convicted for a variety of offences ranging from burglary, violent disorder, criminal damage and handling stolen goods.
The MPS statement said: "Tireless work by the Operation Withern team has resulted in 1809 cases being brought before the court; of those 618 people have been sentenced with 255 being jailed. The cases of 1058 people charged during the disorder are still ongoing."
Commenting, Commander Steve Rodhouse, who is in charge of the investigation, said: "This is an important milestone for the investigation but our work is far from over. We continue to arrest and charge people every day, which is testament to the hard work of the officers, involved in this investigation.
"It is also important that the public see we are not only arresting people but that these arrests are ending up with people being convicted for their crimes.
"My message to those who were involved in the disorder and criminality is that you will not get away with it. We have a huge team of dedicated officers working on this investigation and we will find you.
"We are determined to continue bringing those who committed these outrageous acts of criminality to justice. There will be more arrests and convictions."

Eight Men Arrested Following Dawn Raids
Over 100 police officers have carried out a series of raids concerning child sexual exploitation offences in Oxford. Eight men were arrested following the raids at 6am this morning 2 June. Police are investigating approximately 60 offences in connection with the operation relating to female victims in Oxford between 1999 and 2007.

Portsmouth Man Charged With Terrorism Offences
A man from Portsmouth is due to appear in court today, 24 October, charged with the preparation of terrorism acts. Tuhin Shanesha, from South Sea, was charged under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London.

Scotland Yard have confirmed that three people have been arrested in connection with an international terrorism investigation. Two men, aged 30 and 29, and a woman, aged 4, were arrested in Coventry under the 2000 Terrorism Act on Tuesday. The arrests were reported to have taken place in the Great Heath and Holbrook areas.

More than 2,000 people have put in offers on homes under the Help to Buy scheme, totalling £365 million of new mortgage lending. The applications are backed by a 'decision in principle' by RBS and Lloyds, the first two participating banks, for 95 per cent mortgages. Ten of the 2,384 applications have already completed.
