Poppy Protest Group Raided
London counter-terrorism officers have revealed a raid on three premises linked to a radical Muslim group has been carried out on Friday.
The raids took place only hours after the UK Government officially banned the organisation. On Thursday evening, Home Secretary Theresa May announced in Parliament that support for the group was now a criminal offence.
The group, known as Muslims Against the Crusades (MAC) had planned a demonstration to disrupt Armistice Day ceremonies, however, their operations were disrupted by raids in the early hours of Friday morning.
A police spokesman said: "At 11 p.m. last night, officers from the Counter Terrorism Command executed three search warrants under the Terrorism Act 2000 at addresses in east London," a London police spokesman said on Friday.
"These searches concluded at 5.30 a.m. this morning."
The properties, connected to Muslims Against Crusades (MAC) and its leading figure Anjem Choudary, were raided but no arrests were made.
Mr Choudary said his house and a community centre where the group used to teach in Whitechapel were two of the targets.
Last year, members of MAC burnt two large poppies outside the Royal Albert Hall in London during the two-minute silence to mark Remembrance Day, the anniversary of the day the Armistice was signed marking the end of the First World War.

Police search continues at raided house
Anti-terrorism are continuing to search a house at the centre of a raid conducted because of an alleged chemical weapon plot. The raid was conducted at a house in Forest Gate in east London on Friday, but so far, no chemical devices have been found.

George Awarded Damages Over 'Obsession'
The man cleared of murdering TV presenter Jill Dando after spending seven years in jail has won damages over newspaper claims. Barry George brought the case over claims that he was obsessed with singer Cheryl Cole and newsreader Kay Burley. The claims were made in the Sunday Mirror, the People and on the Daily Mirror website in 2008.

Muslim schoolgirl wins court case
The Appeal Court has ruled that a Muslim schoolgirl was unlawfully excluded from school because she wore traditional Muslim dress instead of the school uniform. Shabina Begum was sent home from Denbigh High School in Luton, because she was wearing a full-length traditional Muslim gown, known as a jilbab.

Man Jailed For Attempted Murder Of Pc
A south London man has been jailed for 25 years for tying to shoot a policeman. Michael Mitchell, 32, of Babington Road, Streatham, was convicted of attempting to murder Pc Shaun Callow, possession of a firearm and possession of drugs with intent to supply.

Home Of Peaches Geldof Raided Twice By Thieves
The home of the late Peaches Geldof has been broken into twice by burglars since her death last month. The house, which is located in Fairseat Lane, near Wrotham in Kent, was broken into in mid-April and the second raid was last Friday. Although it is believed that no personal things were stolen a lawnmower was taken in the first burglary.
