Judge Calls For Lawrence Suspects To Be Pursued
The judge in the Stephen Lawrence case has told police that he expected the other suspects involved in the black teenager's murder to be investigated again.
During sentencing on Wednesday, Mr Justice Treacy called the senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Clive Driscoll, into the witness stand before criticising the Metropolitan Police's handling of the case and calling for the remaining members of the gang involved to face justice.
Gary Dobson and David Norris were convicted on Tuesday of the murder of Stephen Lawrence and sentenced to serve a minimum of 15 years and two months and 14 years and three months respectively on Wednesday.
The two were part of a larger gang that were involved in the teenagers death.
Meanwhile, Scotland Yard has denied it is planning to disband a dedicated team of detectives investigating the original murder.
According to the BBC, the Metropolitan Police said it was reviewing what further lines of inquiry are available and it emerged detectives in the case were given new information during the trial of the two men.
Police said there had been at least five calls from the public and the information was being evaluated.

A major police hunt has begun after a five-year-old boy with a brain tumour, was taken by his family without consent from Southampton General Hospital. Police said that Ashya King was taken from the hospital by Brett King, 51, and Naghemeh King, 45, on Thursday. It is thought he may have been taken to France.
