Carlisle Man Charged Following Pursuit
A man from Carlisle has been charged following a pursuit through Cumbria on Saturday 21st January 2012. Adrian Whitelock, aged 32 from Carlisle, was charged with possession of control drugs and dangerous driving and will appear at Carlisle Magistrates Court on Monday. On Saturday at around 9.17pm, officers from the Roads Policing Unit tried to stop a Renault Megane travelling north on the M6 near to Junction 36, when the vehicle failed to stop and travelled towards Tebay. A passenger in the vehicle then ran off from the car near to Tebay Motorway Services and a short time later was arrested by the police. The Megane continued North towards Penrith and was brought to a halt near to Junction 42 at Carlisle after the use of a 'stinger' device which managed to puncture the tyres and stop the car. The vehicle reached speeds in excess of 110mph during the pursuit. No one was injured during the incident. The passenger, a 40 year old man from Carlisle, was released without charge.
Tottenham Manager In Court Over Taxes
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp is appearing in court to face accusations of tax evasion relating to his time in charge of Portsmouth. Mr Redknapp and former Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric are charged with cheating the public revenue. The case centres on payments totalling $295,000 (£183,000) allegedly made by Mr Mandaric to Mr Redknapp.
Baaps Calls For End To Augmentation Ads
A major plastic surgeons union has said cosmetic surgery advertising should be banned and annual checks carried out on surgeons. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (Baaps) said it wants measures including increased regulation of the "cowboy" market in the UK. Prof Sir Bruce Keogh is leading a government review of the trade after the PIP breast implants scandal. Sir Bruce has said an insurance scheme for the sector, similar to that in the travel industry, could be introduced.

Man Arrested For House Death In Carlisle
A man found dead at his home in Stonegarth, Carlisle is Karl Celmins, police have confirmed. He was discovered by a member of the public on 26 April around 7.30pm. Results from a post mortem show that Mr Celmins, 46, suffered "pressure to his neck".

Father charged with baby's murder
The father of a 10-month-old baby that was stabbed and killed in a bakery in Carlisle on Tuesday has been charged with murder. Thirty-nine-year-old Shahajan Mondol Kabir will appear before Carlisle Magistrates Court today to face charges of murder and with causing grievous bodily harm to the child's mother and grandmother.

Mobile Customers To Share £1m Refund
Mobile provide EE is to refund around £1m to a number of customers wrongly charged VAT between October 2012 and October 2014. It is understood that EE customers who travelled outside the EU during those dates and used internet data were affected by the charges. The company estimated it as being about 0.5% of its customers.

Gunman's Ashes Scattered Near Rothbury
The ashes of 'fugitive' gunman Raoul Moat have been scattered by his family near the spot where he took his own life. Moat died on July 10 in Rothbury following a six-hour stand-off with police. He had been on the run after shooting his former girlfriend, killing her new boyfriend and shooting a police officer.
