Homes Evacuated Following Burst Water Pipe
Thirteen people were rescued from their homes by police boats when a burst water main flooded an Essex street. About 100 homes were evacuated after water began gushing from a drain in East Bridge Road, South Woodham Ferrers. Flood waters reached about 30in before engineers located and repaired a ruptured pipe. Residents in East Bridge Road had called police this morning to report that water was gushing from a drain.
Last WW1 Veteran Dies Aged 110
A woman thought to be the world's last known surviving service member of World War I has died aged 110. Florence Green, from King's Lynn, Norfolk, served as a mess steward at RAF bases in Marham and Narborough. She had been due to celebrate her 111th birthday on 19 February.
Doctor Jailed For Sex Assault
A doctor who subjected to a patient to sexual abuse at the Queen Elizabteh 11 hopsital in Welwyn Garden City has been jailed. Dr Hassan Khan of Romford, Essex has been jailed for three years after attacking the woman on April 2010. It is said that Khan sexually humiliated the woman during an examination at the accident and emergency department.

A burst water main has caused considerable flooding in Glasgow. A statement from Scottish Water said: "An issue with a faulty valve which regulates pressure has resulted in burst water mains in Mount Stuart Street, Shawlands; Cowcaddens and Duke St at the junction of East Wellington Street and Shettleston Road.

A fault at a pumping station has left up to 26,000 homes and businesses in the Reading area without water for a second time. The fault at Earley reservoir happened at about 06:00 on Wednesday morning, Thames Water has said.

E. coli Found In Dublin Water Supply
Residents of an estate in north Dublin have been warned not to drink tap water following the discovery of E. coli in the water supply. Around 160 homes in the Knocksedan Estate in Swords have been affected by the contamination and tankers of water are being made available in the area.

More Than 350 Councils To Receive New Homes Bonus Payments
Housing Minister, Brandon Lewis, has published the final allocations of New Homes Bonus Payments to over 350 councils in England. The total awarded to councils since the scheme's introduction is£3.4 billion, for delivering more than 700,000 new homes and conversions, and bringing over 100,000 empty homes back into use.
