Muslim Girl Scouts Get New Uniform
After a request by Muslim scout members girl scouts have been given a new uniform option.
Designed to ensure Muslim girls felt comfortable without being restricted the range includes a "hoodie" and T-shirt dresses".
Around 600 Muslim girls are expected to benefit from the new knee length outfits that have print graphics inspired by scout badges and the spirit of adventure, although the range is being made available to all girl scouts.
Sarah Elenany, a 27-year-old British designer, created the new range out of her fashion label Elenany.
"I wanted the scouts to be really involved in the design process - the girls told me what they wanted to wear and what issues they had with the existing range," she said.
The range aims to highlight how the scouts are modernising, increasing diversity and responding to members.
UK Chief Scout Bear Grylls said: "With this new clothing range, scouting is continuing to move with the times and adapt to the growing number of people from different communities who are choosing to be a part of the movement.
"Scouting has something to offer everyone, no matter your religion, ethnicity or belief, and I'm so proud that we offer an environment for people of all backgrounds to come together and enjoy themselves."
Around 40 UK scout groups have a predominantly Muslim membership.

Muslim schoolgirl wins court case
The Appeal Court has ruled that a Muslim schoolgirl was unlawfully excluded from school because she wore traditional Muslim dress instead of the school uniform. Shabina Begum was sent home from Denbigh High School in Luton, because she was wearing a full-length traditional Muslim gown, known as a jilbab.

Scouts To Light Paralympic Flame Across UK
The Paralympic torch relay will be launched by Scouts the lighting of four flames atop the highest peak in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The flames will be lit on August 22 on Scafell Pike, Snowdon, Ben Nevis and Slieve Donard on 22 August.

Baby Girl Dies In Dog Attack
An 11-month-old baby has died after being mauled by a pet dog, police in Lancashire have said. The baby girl, from Emily Street in Blackburn, died in hospital at about 23:00 on Monday. Police have arrested a 26-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman on suspicion of child neglect in connection with the incident.

Britain's top muslim cop has been suspended from duties amid the furore of a high profile race discrimination tribunal. Assistant Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur has been put on "authorised leave" from the Metropolitan Police, over fears the media coverage of the case could compromise the "operational effectiveness" of the force.
