Man Pleads Guilty To GBH For Attack Which Left Girlfriend Blind

A man who gouged his girlfriend’s eyes out during a sustained attacked has pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm at Truro crown court.

33-year-old Shane Jenkin blinded Tina Nash, a 31-year-old mother-of-two, last year, also breaking her jaw and nose in the "premeditated, sustained and vicious attack".

In a statement Nash said she was glad he had "at least taken responsibility for changing my life for ever".

"I truly feel that, when he was strangling me, he was trying to murder me,” she said.

"He has taken everything from me and robbed me of one of the most precious things in life – my sight.

"I miss the things which people take for granted the most such as seeing the sky and the sea."

Jenkin had originally denied a murder charged but today pleaded guilty to GBH with intent. He will be sentenced next month.
