Search For Missing Sailor Abandoned

The search for a missing sailor, lost off the coast of Cornwall when a tug boat sank, has been called off.

Falmouth Coastguard confirmed the French Coastguard, which was co-ordinating the search, had stopped looking for the Aquarius crew member.

The man, believed to be from the south west, was lost when the tug sank in rough seas about 45 miles off the Lizard on Monday at about 06:45 BST.

Two of the three crew were airlifted from a life raft to a French hospital.

The vessel, believed to be British registered, was on its way from La Coruna in northern Spain to Plymouth.
