Air Ambulances Cleared To Fly
Air ambulances have been cleared to fly again from Wednesday, after half of the UK's fleet of 32 helicopters were grounded over safety fears.
The main operator, Bond Air Services, had withdrawn all 22 of its Eurocopter EC 135 helicopters - including 16 air ambulances - over concerns about possible cracks in the rotor hub.
The model is used by air ambulance services in Scotland, Wales, north-west England, Midlands and other counties.
Earlier Bond said manufacturer Eurocopter had advised pre and post-flight checks after the fault was discovered but that Bond had decided to halt flights as a precaution on safety grounds.
Bond said that it had been working with Eurocopter engineers over the past 34 hours to determine if the fleet could be flown safely.
A spokesman said Eurocopter had "given an unequivocal guarantee" that the EC 135 was safe to fly and that inspections will be carried out before each flight.
Flights are set to resume at 07:00 BST.

The successfully-run British Isles-wide system of airspace control was this week held up as an example of best practice in dealing with air navigation. Ireland's Minister for Transport, Noel Dempsey has called on Europe to look at how the UK and Ireland cooperate in air navigation, after the disruption caused by the volcanic ash plume.

Probe continues into two US soldiers at Guantanamo Bay
The US Defense Department is continuing its investigations into two servicemen associated with the confinement facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Both cases involve personnel assigned to Camp Delta on US Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, where the US is detaining suspected al-Qaeda and Taliban members.

Clutha Helicopter Crash: AAIB Find Double Engine Failure
Investigators have found that the helicopter that crashed on to the Clutha pub in Glasgow in November had suffered double engine failure as a result of a fuel supply problem. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) however said that the exact cause of the problem was still unclear.

New £2m Helipad Developed At Hospital In Devon
A new helipad has been built at Derriford Hospital in Devon. The £2 million facility will allow air ambulances to land at night. Search and Rescue (SAR) helicopters can also be facilitated. The previous landing area, a grassy region with no lights, was described as "unsuitable" for larger helicopters.
