Fruit Shoot Recall Costs Soar
The cost of recalling faulty Robinson Fruit Shoot and Fruit Shoot Hydro packs will be much greater than initially estimated, according to the soft drinks maker Britvic.
It is also expected that the recall will have a bugger impact on the companys full-year results, now expected to be at the lower end of market expectations.
The company had said last week it expected the recall to cut profit before tax by between £1m and £5m for the current fiscal year.
However they are now estimating that the recall would cut between £15m and £25m from profit before tax for the current and next financial years.
Britvic said it was unable to speedily resolve the issue regarding faulty new design caps, which led to the recall, despite its investigations.
It would use an alternative cap for the packs and start to resupply customers in six weeks.
Britvic, which also produces and sells PepsiCo brands such as Pepsi and 7UP in Britain and Ireland, said it continued to be affected by poor weather and weak demand in the UK.
Shares in Britvic were down 13% on Wednesday morning at 259.1p.
