Two More Arrested In Connection To Fatal Derby House Fire

Two people have been arrested in an ongoing investigation into a Derby house fire which claimed the lives of six children.

Police confirmed a 34-year-old and a 29-year-old woman from Derby were arrested in connection to the fire. Adding: "These latest arrests are part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire."

Jade Philpott, 10, and brothers John, nine, Jack, eight, Jessie, six and Jayden, five, died in the fire and Duwayne, 13, died three days later in hospital.

The parents of the children, Mick Philpott, 55, and his wife Mairead, 31, have been charged with murder.

Assistant Chief Constable Steve Cotteril said: "Despite the fact that two people have already been charged with murder, we are continuing our investigation to ensure that all lines of inquiry are completed.

"No further information will be released at this time."

Heroic Tyne Firemen Honoured
Two Tyne and Wear firefighters are to be recognised for their bravery at a special ceremony today. Andrew Nelson and Allan Richardson will be presented with the Chief Fire Officer's Commendations for brave and meritorious conduct after saving a man's life. Woman Arrested After Five Children Die In House Fire
A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after five children died in a house fire on Victoria Road in Derby. The ages of the children who died range from five up to 10-years-old. A sixth child, aged 13, has been transferred to a hospital in Birmingham for specialist treatment.

Parents Arrested Following Arson Attack
The parents of six children who were killed in an arson attack on their home have been arrested on suspicion of murder. Mick Philpott, 55, and his wife Mairead, 31, are in custody and will be questionned by officers in due course. A fire broke out at the house, in Victory Road, Allenton, in the early hours of Friday, May 11.

Suspicious Glasgow Car Fires
Detectives in Glasgow's East End are investigating a spate of vehicle fire attacks in the city yesterday. Shortly after 3.30am police were called to a report of a vehicle fire in Ashvale Crescent, Glasgow. Upon arrival police were advised by Strathclyde Fire Service that four vehicles had been damaged by fire.
