Veteran journalist dies in northern Iraq

Veteran Channel 4 news journalist Gaby Rado has died after he apparently fell from the roof of his hotel in northern Iraq on Saturday.

It is thought that his death was unconnected with military activity in the area.

British soldier dies in Basrah helicopter crash
A British soldier has died after an RAF helicopter crashed in southern Iraq today. The MoD confirmed that the soldier was killed in "an accident" involving an RAF Puma helicopter at Basrah International Airport. Two other British military personnel were injured during the incident.

Funeral held for Iraq journalist
The funeral of a British journalist who was killed while working in Iraq has taken place in London. James Brolan, 42, who worked for US television network CBS as a soundman, was killed in a roadside bomb attack in Baghdad last month as they travelled with a team from the US 4th Infantry Division.

Guardian journalist released in Iraq unharmed
Irish-born journalist Rory Carroll has been released unharmed after being kidnapped in Baghdad earlier this week. The Guardian confirmed that the 33-year-old journalist was released on Thursday night after being held for 36 hours.

RAF Drop Aid In Northern Iraq On Second Attempt
The RAF has successfully dropped a second round of aid supplies into northern Iraq after abandoning an attempt over safety fears. The RAF had attempted to make the drop on Monday but the pilot aborted the mission at the last minute as a large crowd had gathered at the drop site.
