French anti-war protesters vandalise British war cemetery
There has been widespread disgust voiced today after anti-war graffiti was daubed across a war memorial in France commemorating the sacrifice of 11,000 Commonwealth troops in the First World War.
The Etaples cemetery, near Bologne, was defaced with numerous anti-British and anti-war statements in large red paint – one read "Saddam will win and spill your blood" and another read "Death to Yankees".
In a statement the Commonwealth War Graves Commission said: "[We] share the disgust and dismay expressed by many people at the recent act of vandalism in Etaples Military Cemetery, France, in protest at the war in Iraq. The cemetery… is a place of commemoration ill fitted to such protests.
"The paint on one of the central features in the cemetery was quickly removed by the Commission's staff and the French authorities, who share the Commission's shock and concern, have launched an immediate investigation into the incident."

QR Smart Phone Code Installed At War Cemetery
Mobile phone technology has been installed at the war graves site at Botley Cemetery to provide information about the men and women buried there. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) has installed a panel at the site with a QR (quick response) code which can be scanned using smart phones and tablets.

Anti-war protesters pledge series of demonstrations
Anti-war protesters have promised to step up demonstrations against military action in Iraq. Several demonstrations will be held over the next 10 days including a Budget Day protest to highlight the war's £3 billion cost. They say public support for the conflict is "slipping fast".

Police raids in Oxfordshire have uncovered a number of World War One and Two munitions, thought to have been stolen from heritage and protected sites. Police say the discovery was made at a house in Buckingham Crescent in Bicester. A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of theft from heritage and protected sites.
