Men Arrested Over Internet Banking Scam

Three men have been arrested as part of investigations into an internet scam which targeted online banking customers.

One man from Nigeria and two from Romania are being questioned on suspicion of laundering and defrauding money.

The suspects were held at a London hotel last night.

Police are investigating reports of 2,000 phishing pages. The pages are used to copy bank websites and confuse people into entering their details.

A large number of accounts had money withdrawn after being accessed illegally.

Japanese Firm Buys Branston Pickle

One of the UK’s most popular condiments has been sold to a Japanese company.

Mizkan have purchased Branston Pickle and the accompanying range of sauces and condiments from the Premier Foods company.

The deal will be completed in 2013. Workers at the factory will then become Mizkan employees.

Premier had run up debts of more than £1bn recently. It began to sell off brands it considered non-core, such as Sarson’s vinegar and Robertson’s jam.

The firm has revealed it will now concentrate on key brands, including Oxo and Bisto.

The move follows the selling of Sarson’s and Dufrais vinegars and Haywards pickles for £41m in June, also to Mizkan.

Extra Help For Lost Boy

Divers and extra dogs have now been brought in to search for the 12-year-old boy lost in the south of France.

Pierre Barnes is from Grantham in Lincolnshire. He disappeared during a storm on Saturday evening when he was exploring Porquerolles on his bike.

So far, his bike and one of his shoes have been discovered. Residents from the island have joined the search.

Mother Admits Killing Child

A mother has admitted killing her two children following post-natal depression.

35-year-old Felicia Boots killed her daughter Lily Boots, aged 14 months, and her son 10-week-old Mason at their home in Wandsworth, south-west London, in May.

The two children were suffocated.

The prosecution accepted her manslaughter plea on grounds of diminished responsibility.

She is being detained at a psychiatric hospital.

The judge, Mr Justice Fulford, said the woman’s motives were a result of psychological forces beyond her control.

TSB Flotation Announced By Lloyds Bank
Lloyds Banking Group has said it is to float a 25% stake in its TSB business on the London stock market. The sale will take place next month and ordinary investors will have an opportunity to purchase shares. These ordinary investors will be rewarded with free shared for longer-term investments, it is understood.

Shell Wants Scotland In The UK
Ben van Beurden, the Chief Executive of the oil company Shell has said he would like Scotland to remain part of the UK. In a meeting in London he said he valued the "continuity and stability: of the UK and affirmed that the company had studied the possibilities and reached the conclusion, which was supported in the UK and UE.

Deputy Gov Of BoE To Stand Down After 33 Years
The Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, Paul Tucker, is to step down from his post at the financial institution. Tucker, who has been at the bank for 33 years, was one of the candidates to succeed Sir Mervyn King as Governor.
