Bradley Wiggins Van Driver Questioned Later

The driver involved in the accident that injured cyclist Bradley Wiggins will be questioned later.

Tour de France winner Wiggins was knocked off his bike when he collided with a van pulling out of a garage forecourt on Crow Orchard Road, Wrightington, Lancashire, on Wednesday evening.

The 32-year-old Olympic gold medallist spent a night at Royal Preston Hospital with a bruised hand and ribs.

Mr Wiggins has now returned to his home in Eccleston.

Lancashire Police said the driver was not injured.

Moray Man Dies Following Road Collision

A 78-year-old man has died after being struck by a vehicle in Moray last month.

Robert Burns was knocked down on Academy Street in Elgin on 11 October.

His injuries were initially described as minor, however his condition steadily worsened and he died yesterday morning.

Grampian Police are still investigating the cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Footballer Jailed For Drug Offences

A professional footballer has been sent to seven years in jail after pleading guilty to drugs offences.

Former Everton and Wolves player Michael Branch, 34, admitted charges of possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs.

One of the charges brought against him at Chester Crown Court related to a seizure of 1kg of cocaine from his home in Otterspool, Liverpool in July.

He was also charged over the handing of just under 3kg of amphetamine to a man in a Liverpool car park in March.

He was arrested on 10 July and was sentenced on Thursday.

Body Found In Fife Cemetery

The body of a 50-year-old man has been found in a Fife cemetery.

The discovery was made at 05:15 at Vicarsford Cemetery in an area where reports of a chemical incident are being investigated.

A Scottish Decontamination Service unit is at the scene.

Tour De France Winner Injured In Collision
Britain's Tour de France champion Bradley Wiggins has been hospitalised after an accident outside a petrol station. Wiggins, 32, damaged his ribs after being knocked off his bike by a white vehicle at 6pm in Wrightington.

Further Six Arrested In No Deal Operation In Birmingham
A further six people have been arrested as part of an ongoing operation targeting suspected drug dealers in Birmingham. Police carried out a series of dawn raids on Thursday 24 September, arresting a 17-year-old man, two 19-year-olds and three men aged 21, 26 and 47.

54 arrested in swoop on suspected drug dealers
Sellers of the Big Issue were among 54 people arrested by Merseyside Police today in a crackdown on drug dealing in Liverpool city centre. Operation Manton targeted suspected drug dealers and drug users and 50 men and four women were arrested following a 15-month long investigation by Merseyside Police into drug dealing on the city's streets.
