Hot spell predicted over Easter holidays

Easter eggs could be melting this week as Met Office forecasters are predicting the warmest spell of the year so far.

The weather will turn warmer and sunnier during the week with temperatures reaching the mid twenties in the run-up to Easter.

The dry and sunny weather is set to last into the Easter weekend, and it will still feel warm, especially in the west.

Ewen McCallum, Head of Forecasting, said: "There has been little rain since the first week of March and now the weather is set to turn warm as well. Easter will be dry and fine, pleasing everyone except the farmers and gardeners who want some rain. However, for the Easter weekend in some places temperatures may be tempered by a wind off the North Sea."
