Police Warn Against 'Green Apple' Ecstasy
Police in Wales are warning drug users against taking a form of ecstasy pill known as a "green apple", following the death of a teenager.
One 19-year-old is seriously ill, while another has died. Both are thought to have taken the drug.
The man who died was from Llangefni, Anglesey, while the other man, who was taken to hospital, is from Bangor, Gwynedd.
Det Ch Insp Andrew Williams from Caernarfon police station said: "Approximately two weeks ago a 19-year-old young man from Bangor was admitted to intensive care in Ysbyty Gwynedd after he had taken controlled drugs.
"He was extremely ill but fortunately recovered.
"This last weekend a 19-year-old man from Llangefni was admitted to Ysbyty Gwynedd from an address in Holyhead after suspected drug use.
"Unfortunately he did not recover and passed away on the afternoon of Saturday, 2 February.
"At this time we are not treating the deaths as suspicious but they are unexplained and therefore an investigation will take place to ascertain the exact cause of death."
Det Ch Insp Williams said a link as been found to connect the deaths, as both men were understood to have taken green apples.
He has urged those who supplied or used green apples to think hard about what they were doing and stop immediately.
Anyone with information about the use or supply of green apples or any other controlled drug can contact North Wales Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The mother of a 21-year-old medical student who was found dead at a house after taking GBL has called for an inquiry into why the 'party drug' has not been banned. Hester Stewart from Brighton, East Sussex, died on Sunday morning after attending a party with friends, where it is thought she took the liquid substance GBL.

An 11-year-old boy has been shot in the head during an under-12s football match in Chester-le-Street, Co Durham, on Saturday. The boy, named as Connor Minto, was left with a pellet lodged above his left eye after he was shot with what police believe to have been an air rifle.

Operation Manton targeted suspected drug dealers and drug users and 50 men and four women were arrested following a 15-month long investigation by Merseyside Police into drug dealing on the city's streets.
