Birdseye With Three Beef Products 'As A Precaution'

Three Birdseye beef ready meals have been withdrawn from supermarkets, as a precaution.

The move follows the discovery in Belgium of 2% horse DNA in the company’s chilli con carne.

The company said as a precautionary measure in the UK and Ireland it would clear its Traditional Spaghetti Bolognese 340g, Shepherd's Pie 400g and Beef Lasagne 400g from the supermarkets. It will also clear the chilli from shelves in Belgium.

The Food Standards Agency are preparing to announce results of its latest tests into the contamination of processed beef products, which is hoped to indicate whether the horsemeat scandal has been contained.
