Tributes Paid To Mother And Daughter

The relatives of a mother and daughter killed in a suspected case of carbon monoxide poisoning on a boat have been paying tributes.

36-year-old Kelly Webster and her 10-year-old daughter Lauren Thornton died after being airlifted on Monday 1 April from their privately-owned boat on Lake Windermere.

Police had been alerted by the Ambulance service after it was reported three people were onboard the vessel and were having breathing difficulties.

The mother and daughter were taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary, where they later died.

39-year-old Matthew Eteson, Ms Webster’s partner, was with them at the time and was also taken to Royal Lancaster Hospital. He was released the following day.

The family of Kelly and Lauren said in a statement: "Our two beautiful girls taken so tragic and so too soon. We all love you so very much words will never say. Our hearts are broken and we will miss you forever."

The father of Lauren, Neil Thornton, paid tribute to his daughter. He said: "My darling daughter lollipop, you were everything to me, a light has gone out that will never be replaced. Sweet dreams, goodnight, god bless, Daddy."

Police are not treating the deaths as suspicious, and it is suspected that their deaths was caused by some form of gas poisoning. Enquiries continue to be conducted by officers on behalf of the coroner.
